Through the use of a proprietary implementation of Bluetooth technology Annectere provides wireless integration via a one stop solution; for companies that require a wireless communication standard for their products, and whom have already decided to integrate this technology.
Bluetooth is a wireless protocol that utilizes short-range communications technology facilitating data transmission over short distances from fixed and/or mobile devices, creating wireless personal area networks (PANs).
The intent behind the development of Bluetooth was the creation of a single digital wireless protocol, capable of connecting multiple devices and overcoming issues arising from synchronization of these devices. Bluetooth provides a way to connect and exchange information between devices such as mobile phones, telephones, laptops, personal computers, printers, GPS receivers, digital cameras, and video game consoles over a secure, globally unlicensed (Industrial, Scientific, and Medical ISM) 2.4 GHz short-range radio-frequency bandwidth.
The Bluetooth specifications are developed and licensed by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). The Bluetooth SIG consists of companies in the areas of telecommunication, computing, networking, and consumer electronics.
On 2006, the Bluetooth SIG announces plans to integrate Bluetooth with a new wireless communication transport UWB (Ultra-Wideband), the technology have data rates comparable with traditional cable communication technologies like USB. In early 2008 also announces the integration with WiFi, achieving with this the integration of the two major wireless communication technologies to date.
According to IC Insights, Bluetooth module unit shipments increased from virtually nothing in 2000 to 515 million in 2006 and are forecast to grow to 1,630 million in 2010. An interesting fact is that cumulative shipments of Bluetooth modules exceeded 1 billion in 2006. The Bluetooth chipset market is forecast to expand from $1.47 billion to more than $3.2 billion over the 2006-2010 time period. [IC Insights,2007]
A new study from ABI Research forecasts that close to 2.4 billion units of Bluetooth-enabled equipment are expect to ship worldwide in 2013 [ABI Research,2008]
